With an artistic eye and flair for art and fine design, the home's sleek, modern aesthetic melds with pure comfort, resulting in a beautifully-appointed three-story residence. The approach to the house is via Alameda Padre Serra, the rim drive that lines the foothills, offering scenery like none other.
The gently curving staircase of Saltillo tile connects all three levels. The foyer, the two-car garage for off-street parking, and a workshop with a powder bath are on entry-level.
The second floor is where gatherings, meals, movie nights, and fireside chats evolve. A lovely living room, stone fireplace, and television on one level overlook the dining room and kitchen a few steps below. Plenty of firewood is provided for cooler winter nights. The round metal dining table under the vaulted ceiling adds the perfect punctuation to these elegant yet relaxing rooms.
The kitchen is chic and modern, with a 5-burner stove, great glassware, and unique Asian-inspired serving pieces. Even doing the dishes will be pure pleasure, with the bay window framing the ocean and the Channel Island view. Sets of sliding doors allow immediate access to the dining terrace just outside, with a barbecue and undeniably scenic seascape in the distance. Just breathe; the cool coastal air is so invigorating.
Also on the second level is a great office with French doors opening to the views, a guest bedroom with a queen-size bed, a laundry room, and a hall bathroom with a glass and artisanal tile shower.
It's time to see the 'pièce de résistance", the magnificent primary suite on the top floor. The show's star is, without doubt, the epic, vast views, but moreover, the intrinsic sense of calm here is palpable. The king-size bed below a soaring ceiling with a European air conditioning unit is holding center stage. Automatic shades on remote are the ultimate luxury when sleep beckons or the sunrise awaits.
When it is time to get outside, the terraced backyard is a lush and friendly garden space with peaks of the ocean. Adirondack chairs invite a quiet moment to share a yummy glass of award-winning Santa Barbara County wine (Maybe Melville, Margerum, or Lafond) or a hearty cup of locally roasted coffee. (You must visit Dune, Handlebar, or Santa Barbara Roasting Company!) There is so much to explore, and everything is close in this coastal town, so hop in the car and head downtown
And, of course, heart-pumping walks on the hillside roads are a must! Nearby Franceschi Park is a suitable endpoint to see the magnificent sunsets or head downhill to explore neighborhoods on foot and check out life as locals know it. City & Sea is an ideal, restorative and lovely place to call home for a while. "Bienvenue!" Welcome!

Definitely a wow factor!
City & Sea has a captivating view of Santa Barbara, and we greatly enjoyed watching the sailboat regatta every Wednesday evening on the ocean. The house is very open with most rooms having views plus allowing privacy for guests to escape. The kitchen is well laid out and two can happily prepare a meal, provided they don't get distracted by the view from the sink. The only issue with this VR is it is mis-named. The master suite on the top level is heavenly and one of the reasons we renamed the VR to Casa Over-the-Top! And a close second to the house interior is the lovely multi-tiered garden which is wind-protected in the back and a perfect place to lounge in the sun. Casa Over-the-Top gave us lasting memories due to its uniqueness and wow factor as we will always remember “living the dream” in Santa Barbara.
