La Mariposa carries on the familiar Spanish architecture theme seen throughout Santa Barbara, inside and out beautifully, with its red tile roof, colorful tile, wood and wrought iron accents, grand proportions, and Santa Barbara style. The flexible three-story floor plan allows for accommodations and various use when friends and family are traveling or spending time together.
The gracefully curving exterior Saltillo tile staircase leads to a second-story entrance from the motor court. Vaulted ceilings soar overhead with a handcrafted wrought iron chandelier casting exquisite luminosity in an already bright and light great room. Many tall arching doors and windows offer indoor-outdoor ambiance while one of five working fireplaces adds warmth and a cozy feel. Just outside, a dining deck with a second fireplace, farm table, and a barbecue stretches between the main living and kitchen areas with stairs leading to the side yards as well.
Clever cooks will be tempted to do a little (or a lot!) of cooking in the beautifully outfitted kitchen with granite counters, a 6-burner range, a walk-in pantry, and a breakfast room with fireplace. On Friday mornings, it's only a one-block walk to peruse the Santa Barbara Certified Organic Farmer's Market to pick out fruits, veggies, and a few colorful blooms to complete a very pretty and tasty table!
On this same mid-level are two bedrooms, the larger of which offers a king-size bed, a dramatic fireplace with a substantial stucco hearth, and doors to a secluded private patio overlooking the lush grounds. In addition, the room includes a laundry closet with a full-size washer and dryer and built-in desk hidden away in a closet. The other bedroom is en-suite and outfitted with yet another king-size bed, and the attached bathroom also has a door to the hallway for added guest convenience.
With ultimate privacy, the impressive primary suite at the top of the semi-circular staircase occupies the entire 3rd floor. A king-size bed, sunny sitting area, covered loggia, television, and dual-sided fireplace facing both the bedroom and bath, make this a true sanctuary. In spa-like fashion, the generous size bathroom also features a jetted tub beneath a bay window with garden views, an open walk-in shower, and plenty of closet space for the well-packed traveler. Wrap up in those favorite pj's or lofty towels, kick back on the luxurious chaise, and indulge in a well-deserved respite in this serenely irresistible space.
The fourth bedroom is a sunny, large guest suite on the ground level with a queen-size bed, living room with television, and a desk for those working or studying from home. It is set up perfectly for guests seeking private accommodations or simply a fun place to just hang out do a bit of binge-watching! Additionally, a yoga mat, bands, and weights have been provided for a quick home workout before heading our for the day. The grounds are shady, lush and private with tall hedges, mature trees and palms, tropical plantings, and a vast lawn area for energetic kids, frisbee fans, or visiting pups to run and play.
When it comes time to venture out, it can't be overstated how close Las Palmas is to everything that will assure an enjoyable getaway. Coast Village Road is home to chic boutiques like Whiskey & Leather and Johnny Was ... tasty local treats and latte's at Reneau's Patisserie and Jeannine's Bakery ... dining essentials like Bettina and Lucky's ... and do not pass up the chance to taste the best ice cream, ever, at Rori's Artisinal Creamery!
Beautiful Butterfly Beach is a short ten-minute walk from Coast Village Road when it's time to hit the sand and surf. Of course, other Santa Barbara beaches along Cabrillo Boulevard, downtown State Street, the energized Funk Zone, and most things on the "must see-must do" list are usually just a short drive away. La Mariposa is in an ideal location -- you can walk down to the Lower Village in Montecito for a coffee or a bite to eat, or get quick and easy access to the freeway and downtown SB. I highly recommend it! The house is lovely and quiet, with the perfect "California-feel" any trip to Montecito should have. 10/10

What's not to love?
Our family loved staying at the beautiful La Mariposa! We’ve never experienced a more well-stocked home. In a quiet neighborhood and surrounded by trees, this home feels remote. But guests can walk about 10 minutes to great restaurants and shops. Plus the beach is only a short walk away! This home was one of our family’s favorite stays ever. Thank you for the attention to detail in preparation for our visit! What’s not to love?

f you are looking for a beautiful home in a prime location, look no further....Mariposa is it!It was close to the beach, shopping, and had everything we needed. The space inside was very welcoming allowing us all to gather for all our meals.

The home is just as described and did not disappoint!
Our family truly enjoyed this beautiful home. It is just as described and did not disappoint. The linens were high quality and the beds very comfortable. The bedrooms were all ample and elegant. The home is well stocked in every respect with a bonus Sonos system to pipe music throughout the house if desired. The outdoor space was also perfect for outdoor dining. The weather was perfect. Everything you need is close by and perfectly doable on foot. Great town and also close to State Street in Santa Barbara. We would definitely return for another memorable family vacation.

Highly recommend this property!!
The home is wonderfully charming, spacious and welcoming. A very comfortable house in a fabulous location : the town is just a short walk away, which is great for eating out. The property is quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the Sonos as well as the fireplaces! Any minor issues were promptly dealt with by the management team. Highly recommend this property and we look forward to our return!
