The Wing House in Santa Barbara originally designed in 1978 by well known local architect, Michael Carmichael, was so named for its hacienda style in two distinct wings. This 3,500 square foot house was completely re-imagined by the Montecito based Warner Group architects in 2019. It’s outdoor space includes a 40 ft pool, hot tub, fire pit, tennis court, and basketball hoop designed for evening play. The indoor space, painted in shades of white, features wood floors, Moroccan and Indian rugs, and modern art throughout.
At the far end of the east wing of the house is the primary bedroom suite which features high ceilings, a floor to ceiling slate fireplace, and french doors that lead out to a garden and the hot tub/pool. The primary bath has a large steam shower, custom made walnut cabinets, black granite countertops, dual sinks, a makeup vanity, and Moroccan floor tile and chandelier.
The family room features a large floor to ceiling white stone fireplace and expansive steel windows that look out onto the front garden kept private by a white stucco wall that stands between the two entries to the circular drive.
The 500 sq ft white and wood kitchen/ dining room features a wall of steel framed windows, a 10 ft long live edge dining table with wishbone black chairs, a Wolf stove, a Sub Zero refrigerator, and an expanse of skylights. This room opens to the back garden dining area with an outdoor fireplace.
Separating the east and west wings is the large curved, living room, with high, wood beam ceiling. It features a large stone floor to ceiling fireplace and french doors that open to the back garden’s covered seating area.
The west wing has a half bath, Jack and Jill bedrooms with an original Spanish style bathroom, a laundry room, and a second primary bedroom and bath. This bedroom has french doors that open to the west garden as well as a contemporary desk.
On one and a half completely private acres, this property has 40 palm trees, ten avocado trees, three large tipuana trees, and 30 species of plants, some very old and rare, earning it the title of Little Lotusland.

Great Home
The wing house is an amazing property. We had a great stay and already looking forward to hopefully coming back again one day. Only potential improvement we can think of is a King bed (versus a Queen) would be nice in the Master. The room is huge and could easily support it.
